January 30, 2019
Barristers from the criminal team at Exchange Chambers are prosecuting and defending in a violent disorder trial at Liverpool Crown Court.
In the trial, a group of doormen and a member of the public are accused of using violence which went beyond self-defence, on November 22, 2017.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that fighting broke out in Concert Square after supporters of German team Eintracht Frankfurt were refused entry to Soho Bar in Wood Street, the night before a Europa League match between Everton and Italian side Atalanta at Goodison Park.
Austin Cole, Nat Afful, Alan Day, Anton Denny, James Murphy, John Cummings and Neema Khurasani, plus Peter Weaver, deny violent disorder.
The case is being prosecuted by Eric Lamb from Exchange Chambers.
Barristers from Exchange Chambers acting for the defendants include Steven Swift, Andrew Jebb, Michael Scholes, David Birrell and Philip Tully.
The trial continues.
