Successful appeal by Giles Maynard-Connor at Supreme Court of Gibraltar
May 15, 2015
Giles Maynard-Connor from Exchange Chambers has appeared at the Supreme Court of Gibraltar in a successful appeal for his clients.
On 24 January 2013, the Supreme Court of Gibraltar made an order, on a petition by Gibraltar’s Financial Services Commission, winding up Lemma Europe and appointing Freddie White of Grant Thornton (Gibraltar) as the company’s Liquidator.
In this latest hearing on 12 and 13 May 2015, Giles Maynard-Connor, acting for the applicant creditors, successfully appealed against a decision made by the Liquidator. The Court ordered that the applicants’ proof of debt, itself based on a judgment previously obtained in the High Court in London against an English firm of solicitors for breach of an undertaking and who were insured by Lemma Europe, should be admitted in Lemma’s liquidation in its entirety.
Giles Maynard-Connor was instructed by Clarion, Leeds.
