Trading Standards
Sean has experience of representing individuals and corporate clients against alleged breaches of trading standards brought by prosecuting authorities such as the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and local authorities.
He provides advice and representation in relation to a range of matters including fraudulent training, counterfeit goods, product safety, food safety and standards, and animal welfare matters.
Bringing a wealth of knowledge and practical experience from his criminal practice, Sean is regularly involved in the related constraint and confiscation proceedings that may arise in such cases.
Trading Standards Cases
TS v W – Trading Standards prosecution – represented a multi-million pound company and was able to secure them a minimal fine for allegations involving trading standard breaches.
TS v L – Further trading standards prosecution in which the allegations surrounding the operation of the legitimate operation of a business in which the defendants were said to be a principal. After submission of various documents and arguments on behalf of the defendant trading standards ultimately offered no evidence without the matter needing to progress to trial.
