Practice Overview
Penny was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 2021 after achieving an Outstanding on the BPC at ULaw Leeds. Following the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Paul Lakin, Penny became a tenant of Exchange Chambers in September 2024.
Penny has a broad business and property practice across chambers’ practice areas including insolvency (corporate and personal), property, wills and probate, commercial litigation and company law. Across those areas, Penny regularly appears in the County and High courts at both interlocutory hearings and trials. She is also frequently instructed to draft pleadings and applications, provide advice (both written and in conference) and has experience in representing clients in mediation.
Before commencing pupillage, Penny was a corporate paralegal at DLA Piper working between the Intellectual Property and Technology Team (Manchester) and the Corporate Team (Sheffield). She worked predominantly on the restructuring of General Electric and the separation of its healthcare business, reviewing contracts, drafting contracts and negotiating NDAs.
