Inquests

Paul is considered one of the leading practitioners on the North Eastern Circuit and has significant breadth of experience in inquest work.

Whether acting for the family of the deceased or a company or authority suspected of being involved in an incident resulting in a death, Paul provides guidance, advice and representation throughout the whole inquest process. He is heavily involved throughout the pre-inquest stages including attending conferences, pre-inquest hearings, forensic overview of medical evidence and records.

With over 20 years’ experience of inquests, Paul’s particular areas of specialism include fatal accidents at work relating both to equipment and the workplace, hospital / negligence deaths and social services / local authority related deaths (often in relation to vulnerable adults and children owed statutory duties under the various Children Acts).

Paul’s extensive expertise in personal injury and clinical negligence allows him to appreciate the implications of an inquest finding on a potential future claim.  He regularly appears as a leader in his field in the list of expert advisors, Chambers and Partners UK Guide and The Legal 500 publications.
