During her first six, Lucy has observed and assisted on a number of high-profile and complex criminal cases with both Mr Killen and other counsel in chambers, including serious and organised crime, drugs, violent crime and serious sexual offences. Lucy has assisted both Mr Killen and other Counsel prosecuting serious RASSO cases.
Lucy has been busy drafting documents that have been used by counsel in a number of trials and sentence hearings and has also completed research tasks for counsel and solicitors. Her meticulous preparation, critical analysis of evidence and attention to detail have been noted by counsel and professional clients. After growing up heavily involved in theatre and performing arts, Lucy studied Law at University, achieving a first-class grade and numerous awards for academic achievement. Lucy enjoyed participating in advocacy competitions and after reaching the final of her university’s moot competition in her first year, went on to win first place the following year. Lucy then spent 18 months working as a personal injury paralegal before moving on to study the BPC.
Lucy took on the role of Head of Mooting on the Bar Society during her BPC and was a finalist in the University of Law Plea in Mitigation Competition. Prior to commencing her pupillage, Lucy worked at the University of Law as a Bar-specialist careers adviser and continues to mentor students from non-traditional backgrounds in supporting their journeys to the Bar.
