  • Beyond the Bar

    Caitlin believes in actively encouraging access to the profession, particularly for groups who are currently underrepresented at the Bar. She has acted as a mentor to aspiring barristers with schemes such as Bridging the Bar and Young Bar Mentoring, and welcomes aspiring barristers who perhaps feel as though they have no existing contacts within the profession to drop her a message on Linkedin if they have any questions.

Credit Hire

Caitlin is frequently instructed on cases in which credit hire is the sole issue, and also where it accompanies a personal injury claim.

Representing both claimants and defendants, Caitlin is well versed in the relevant case law and typical arguments which are raised in credit hire cases, and has delivered training on tricky areas such as credit hire claims for taxi drivers.

Equipped with this specialist knowledge, in one of her cases Caitlin successfully argued that an entire claim for credit hire should be reconstituted as a claim for loss of profit, reducing the total damages awarded by thousands.  In another, Caitlin was able to reduce the overall hire period from 258 days to only 28.
