Practice Overview

Amy began her Common Law Pupillage in September 2024 under the supervision of Andrew Ward, and also Chris Gutteridge and Andrew Wastall.

Amy intends to pursue a Common Law Practice and throughout her First Six has been involved in a number of high-value cases in Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Employment and Family Law, representing both individuals and institutions.

Amy has experienced litigation from both the Claimant and Defendant perspectives and has attended numerous matters in both the High Court and County Court, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting Counsel in preparing cross-examination notes and attending trials, including 3 days in the Royal Courts of Justice, successfully defending the MOD against a personal injury claim for Non-Freezing Cold Injuries.
  • Attending a number of Joint Settlement Meetings, including various matters for the MOD and other high-value Personal Injury Claims, pleaded at up to £40 million.
  • Observing counsel at various CCMCs covering costs budgeting and applications, including quarterly CCMCs for a large Cohort of Non-Freezing Cold Injuries at the Royal Courts of Justice
  • Attending and documenting various Conferences with both Clients and Experts, advising on litigation prospects and gathering medical evidence
  • Observing Counsel at various Inquests, representing families and the MOJ
  • Attending hearings and trials on more junior matters on the small claims and fast tracks, including infant approvals, Stage 3 hearings and applications.

Amy also has experience assisting Counsel in drafting Particulars of Claim, Defences, Preliminary Schedules of Loss, Counter-Schedules, Orders and Advices on both Liability and Quantum, over a range of Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Employment matters.

Before Coming to the Bar, Amy engaged in a variety of legal opportunities, working with charities such as BVL, the Environmental Law Foundation and Student Action for Refugees to improve accessibility and social mobility within the legal system and profession.
