Lisa Linklater speaks at Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 webinar
September 7, 2020
Lisa Linklater from Exchange Chambers was a guest speaker at last week’s Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 webinar run by the Northern Business and Property Courts Bar Associations.
Lisa provided an update on “The Moratorium: Impact upon and Considerations for Creditors”. Lesley Anderson QC of Kings Chambers also gave a presentation on the Statutory Moratorium Procedure.
The webinar was chaired by Richard Chapman QC of 18 St John Street Chambers and was attended by members of the judiciary, barristers and solicitors.
Commenting on her talk, Lisa Linklater said:
“The moratorium introduces a change of culture with the rescue of insolvent companies at its heart. Key temporary changes introduced by CIGA, notably the ‘coronavirus test’ for winding up petitions, will cease on 30 September 2020. The consequent likely increase in winding up petitions is likely to focus the attention of creditors and debtors on the moratorium in practice.”
