Lengthy sentence in Steve McNally prosecution

Steve McNally from Exchange Chambers has gained a successful prosecution of a cage fighter who knocked out a policeman before running him over – after attacking his own mum and dad on Christmas Day.
Also sentenced for his part in supplying Cocaine, drug dealer John Kirk, 31, punched PC Matthew Rimmer in the head then drove over the unconscious officer as he lay sprawled out in the road.
Jailing Kirk for a total of 16 and a half years, Judge Steven Everett said: “It was absolutely astonishing. He could have died. He certainly could have lost his legs.”
John Kirk was part of a Liverpool drug gang jailed at Liverpool Crown Court for a total of 55 years.
He admitted attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, assault causing actual bodily harm, common assault, criminal damage and being involved in supplying cocaine.
