Julian King secures acquittal in firearms trial
December 20, 2023
Julian King has successfully represented a client in a multi-handed five-week trial at Bolton Crown Court. Four of the five defendants were accused of a Conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition, following the seizure of a gun in Stockport. Julian’s client was alleged to have assisted an offender by attempting to warn a co-defendant of a police search at his property. The prosecution also alleged he had knowledge of the firearm through association with others.
As the case entered its fifth week, the jury returned not guilty verdicts for Julian’s client and one other. The remaining three defendants were found guilty. This was the second trial listing, with the first trial having commenced in July when that jury were discharged after nine days. This second trial saw detailed forensic, telephone and cellsite evidence presented to the jury.
Julian was instructed by Haani Shafi and Hojol Uddin of JMW Solicitors.
