Julian King in successful Wiltshire Police Misconduct Hearing
April 13, 2022
Julian King from Exchange Chambers has represented a Police Constable over a 6-day Misconduct hearing. PC L faced allegations of abusive, aggressive and intimidating behaviour. It was further alleged his conduct when in post as an Acting Sergeant amounted to harassment and was discriminatory.
The hearing was held at Wiltshire Police Headquarters and heard detailed submissions concerning the Equality Act 2010. Another officer also faced a number of allegations in relation to his interaction with colleagues.
At the conclusion of the hearing, the Panel found the majority of the Appropriate Authority’s case was not proved. The Panel found only limited breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour, and as such gross misconduct was not found. Following their finding of Misconduct only, the Panel imposed a written warning.
Julian was instructed by Alan Ridler of Reeds Solicitors.
