Julian King defends Police Officer in Misconduct Hearing
January 2, 2024
Julian King has successfully represented a Greater Manchester Police Officer in a four-day Misconduct Hearing. PC D faced allegations of sexual touching, and inappropriate sexual remarks. It was alleged he had breached the professional standards of Authority, Respect and Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct. The Panel heard evidence from a number of in person witnesses, as well as reviewing detailed documentary and CCTV evidence. Following detailed submissions, the Panel found that allegations of sexual touching were not proved. In light of some admissions made by the Officer, a finding of gross misconduct was made. However, the Panel agreed with submissions advanced for the Officer, that a Final Written Warning to last five years was an appropriate outcome, as opposed to dismissal.
Julian was instructed by Phill Barlow of JMW Solicitors.
