Grenfell Tower Inquiry publishes final report
September 4, 2024
The Grenfell Tower Inquiry, chaired by Sir Martin Moore-Bick, has today published its final, 1700-word report into the 2017 disaster that killed 72 people.
Louis Browne KC from Exchange Chambers represented the Fire Officers Association and Fire Commander, Richard Welch at both stages of the Inquiry.
Phase 1 focused on the factual narrative of the events on the night of 14 June 2017 while Phase 2 examined the causes of these events, including how Grenfell Tower came to be in a condition which allowed the fire to spread in the way identified in the Phase 1 report.
Over the course of Phase 1 and 2, the Inquiry disclosed over 320,000 documents to core participants, received over 1,600 witness statements and held more than 300 public hearings.
Commenting on today’s report, Louis Browne KC said:
“I would like to pay tribute to the strength the bereaved families and survivors have shown throughout this Inquiry.
“The findings and recommendations in Sir Martin Moore-Bick’s report must now lead to safer homes for all those in social housing and ensure that such a tragedy can never occur again.”
