Gordon Cole KC secures murder acquittals

Gordon Cole KC from Exchange Chambers has secured acquittals for his clients in two multi-handed murder trials.

After a nine-week trial at Manchester Crown Court, Gordon Cole KC’s client, Fares Hassan was found not guilty of murder; attempted murder; and an alternate offence of section 18 assault.

The trial followed the death of Ahmed Alsrhan who was having a coffee with his brother and friends in Manchester’s Northern Quarter when he was attacked and pushed into a canal.

Mr Alsrhan managed to climb out of the canal before collapsing. Paramedics performed open heart surgery at the scene but he died later in hospital.

The victim’s friend Sami Alhaj was also stabbed. He was left with wounds to his abdomen, armpit and lung.  Two other defendants in the case were found guilty of murder with a further two found guilty of section 18 assault.

In another trial at Manchester Crown Court, Gordon Cole KC’s client, Damian White, was found not guilty of the murder of Warren Burns in his own home.  Following ten hours of jury deliberations, Ryan White, 29, was found guilty of murder. Damian White, 33, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of an alternate offence of manslaughter.
