Female neurodiversity, suicide and self-harm

David Sandiford recently completed a month-long inquest on behalf of the Ministry of Justice where the central issue was neurodiversity, suicide and self-harm in the female prison estate. The inquest explored levels of awareness and understanding of female neurodiversity and the assessment of and response to risk.

In September 2024 the Lord Chancellor announced plans to reduce the number of women in custody by using early intervention and tackling the root causes of offending.
