Exchange Chambers Trains with the RNLI
September 5, 2014
Exchange Chambers barristers Steven Crossley, Alex Menary, Alfie Weiss and Vicky Smith-Swain have just recently returned from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) headquarters in Poole, Dorset, where they delivered an inquest workshop to the Directors and senior staff of the Institution.
The 4 Leeds-based counsel ran a full mock inquest using a fictional scenario and materials provided by the Legal and Compliance Team at the RNLI, before a general forum discussion about possible outcomes and recommendations.
Speaking about the training, Alex Menary said: “We were more than happy to volunteer our time to help the RNLI with this particular aspect of their work. Increasingly their dedicated volunteer crews face not only the challenge of heading out to sea in all weathers, but then having their actions scrutinised when back on dry land. As we found, the RNLI has excellent training and processes in place to deal with emergencies and to assist in this way was a real pleasure.”
