March 23, 2016
Exchange Chambers has continued the expansion of its commercial department in Manchester by welcoming barrister James Malam as a tenant.
James, who was called to the Bar in 2002, joins Exchange Chambers from St John’s Buildings, where he has been a member since 2009.
Having completed his pupillage at 3 Stone Buildings in London, James joined Fishburns Solicitors, where he specialised in insurance, professional negligence and construction work. During 2007 he spent six months working as a Judicial Assistant to the Court of Appeal, where he was assistant to Lord Justice Carnwath.
James practices in most areas of commercial and commercial chancery law, with a particular emphasis on construction, professional negligence and insurance matters. He is independently ranked by the legal directories where he is praised by The Legal 500 for his “sound grasp of the technicalities of a legal problem”.
Tom Handley, Director of Chambers at Exchange Chambers said:
“We are delighted to welcome James to Chambers. We are continuing to expand our commercial department in Manchester and his practice, focusing on construction, professional negligence and insurance, complements our service offering.”
Commenting on his decision to join Exchange Chambers, James Malam said:
“The commercial team at Exchange Chambers has an outstanding reputation and I am looking forward to further developing my practice at a forward-thinking, dynamic Set.”
