Exchange Chambers barristers deliver bespoke training to Liverpool City Council
March 30, 2017
On 29 March 2017 David Birrell and John Wyn Williams, barristers at Exchange Chambers, delivered bespoke training to over 50 solicitors and officers from Liverpool City Council. The event took place at the prestigious Cunard Building, one of Liverpool’s ‘Three Graces’.
David and John tailored the event to suit the needs of the Council, covering a diverse range of topics including trial advocacy, giving evidence, disclosure, hearsay, bad character and confiscation.
The event was universally well received. Roger Mann, Principal Regulatory Solicitor at Liverpool City Council, described the event as “fantastic” and said, “I can honestly say I’ve not seen a better received one”. Cheryl Pritchard, officer at the Council, added: “Both speakers have excellent presentation skills and really engaged with the audience.”
In delivering the training David and John drew upon their considerable experience of criminal, local government and environmental law.
David and John will deliver additional training to Liverpool City Council in the coming months. In particular, the pair will organise a mock trial for the benefit of both Council officers, acting as witnesses, and solicitors, acting as advocates.
Local authority lawyers who would be interested in similar bespoke training are invited to contact Exchange Chambers’ Seminar and Training Manager, Jo Stapley.
