Eddy Steele from Exchange Chambers, instructed by Kevin Blount of Howard & Byrne Solicitors, has secured a not guilty verdict for his client after a three-day trial at York Crown Court in respect of an allegation of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The client was prosecuted for driving an e-scooter (other than the regulated trial Tier e-scooters) on the streets of York and being involved in a collision with a cyclist in an underpass. The case involved examination of a novel area of law and detailed cross-examination of the police in respect of the relevant regulations in operation at the time of the collision. The client was found not guilty after less than two hours of jury deliberations.
Eddy has a number of recent jury trial successes, including in respect of a murder/rape case.
