David Sandiford appears at the first Pre Inquest Review for the inquest arising out of the Birmingham attacks in September 2000

On 30th August 2023 HM Senior Coroner Hunt, HM Coroner for the City of Birmingham and the Borough of Solihull, held the first Pre Inquest Review hearing for the inquest into the death of Jacob Billington.
On the night of Saturday 6 September 2020 ZM stabbed eight people in the city centre of Birmingham, killing Jacob. He had been released from prison at the end of his sentence with no requirement for supervision by probation. Whilst in prison ZM was under the care of mental health services.
The scope of the inquest is wide and is likely to be heard over a period of 3 weeks.
David Sandiford from Exchange Chambers is instructed on behalf of the Probation Service and the prisons and is also currently representing the Probation Service at the inquests arising out of the quadruple murders in Killamarsh.
