David Birrell secures not Not Guilty verdict in large scale drugs conspiracy

David Birrell from Exchange Chambers has secured a not guilty verdict for his client in a large scale drugs conspiracy trial.

The Prosecution alleged that Mr Birrell’s client was involved with a Liverpool-based OCG who supplied hundreds of kilograms of cocaine around the country. After being extradited from Spain pursuant to a European Arrest Warrant, he was the only defendant to be acquitted after Mr Birrell exposed gaps in the surveillance and telephone evidence. The principal defendants received sentences of over 20 years’ custody.
