Clinical negligence team grows from strength to strength
November 15, 2017
The clinical negligence team at Exchange Chambers has secured its highest ever rankings in this year’s legal directories.
In The Legal 500 2017, Chambers’ clinical negligence team is praised for its “excellent counsel at all levels”. Four silks who specialize in the area – Head of Chambers Bill Braithwaite QC, Gerard Martin QC (recently named as Clinical Negligence Barrister of the Year at the Lawyer Monthly 2018 Awards), Louis Browne QC and William Waldron QC – are ranked in Tier 1 along with 8 juniors – David Knifton, Catherine Howells, Dr Kevin Naylor, Pankaj Madan, Christopher Barnes, Andrew Ward, Sara Sutherland and Chris Gutteridge.
In Chambers and Partners 2018, Exchange Chambers is recognised as a leading set in clinical negligence. The team is praised for its “significant experience of handling complex and high-value claims” while our clerks are praised for being “very responsive and helpful”. Bill Braithwaite QC, Gerard Martin QC, Amanda Yip QC (now a High Court judge), Catherine Howells and Dr Kevin Naylor are also named as leaders in their field.
The team has also been strengthened by the arrival of Dr Simon Fox QC, a medically qualified specialist clinical negligence silk, as a member. Simon recently concluded a cerebral palsy claim in a lump sum equivalent value of £25m – believed to be one of the highest ever clinical negligence awards made in the UK. Simon is also recommended in both The Legal 500 2017 and Chambers and Partners 2018.
