Charlotte Rimmer secures acquittal for client accused of throwing a man from a balcony

Charlotte Rimmer from Exchange Chambers has secured the acquittal of a man charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, following a trial at Leeds Crown Court. The client was alleged to have thrown another man off a first-floor balcony at a residential property, resulting in multiple fractures to the complainant.

The client accepted that he was responsible for causing the fall and the subsequent injuries, however he maintained throughout that he had acted in reasonable self-defence whilst being attacked by two males.

Charlotte successfully challenged the credibility of the prosecution witnesses directly involved in the incident and through research into the locality and vantage point, was also able to call into question the reliability of the independent witness who had observed the scene from a nearby house.

Working closely in the run up to trial with instructing solicitor Anna Moran of ABR Solicitors, Charlotte helped to build a robust defence case which was vital to securing this excellent result.
