Success for Charlotte Noddings as a led junior in a multi-handed murder trial

Charlotte Noddings, being led by Nina Grahame KC of Garden Court North Chambers, has successfully defended a young man on trial for murder.

The prosecution had alleged that their client was guilty by way of joint enterprise to murdering Michael Toohey, an 18-year-old man, in Liverpool in April 2022.

The nine-defendant trial lasted for 6 weeks at Liverpool Crown Court. On 7 January 2023, their client was unanimously acquitted of both murder and manslaughter with three of his co-accused. Four other defendants were found guilty of murder. Verdicts were returned for two other defendants on a later day.
