Charity Ball on target to raise £20,000 for Friends of Rosie
November 22, 2023
Exchange Chambers’ annual Charity Ball is on target to raise in the region of £20,000 for Friends of Rosie, the Set’s official charity.
This year’s event took place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Manchester and was attended by 250 guests.
Fundraising activities on the evening included a quality tombola and an auction, with a range of prizes generously donated by members of Chambers and clients.
The Charity Ball is Chambers’ second major fundraising initiative in as many months for Friends of Rosie. On Saturday 7 October, a team of Exchange Chambers barristers and staff successfully climbed Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) raising over £10,000 for the charity.
Friends of Rosie is a volunteer-led charity that provides funding for children’s cancer research to get new ideas off the ground. When five-year-old Rosie Larkin lost her battle with cancer in 1991, her friends and family were determined to carry on the fight and set up the Friends of Rosie Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
Exchange’s partnership with Friends of Rosie, which runs until 2024, aims to fund specific research into Proton Beam Therapy designed to treat sarcomas in children being carried out at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.
Commenting on the Charity Ball, Jonathan I’Anson, Chief Executive at Exchange Chambers said:
“I would like to thank everyone who organised and attended our Charity Ball and made the evening such an enormous success. Friends of Rose is a fantastic charity. It is a real privilege to play our part in their fundraising programme and to support pioneering new research for children’s cancer.”
Felicity Goodey, Chair of Trustees at Friends of Rosie said:
“The support at this year’s charity ball was just phenomenal and we’re so proud that, thanks to Exchange Chambers, we are now able to fund a second year of specialist children’s cancer research at The Proton Beam Therapy Centre at The Christie Hospital. We couldn’t get pioneering research like this off the ground without such support and we would like to thank everyone who has donated and fundraised as part of the Exchange Chambers charity partnership. The difference you make to children with cancer is huge.”
