Cath Howells appointed as Circuit Judge

The Queen has appointed Catherine Jane Howells from Exchange Chambers as a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lidington MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed Cath to the Wales Circuit, based at Wrexham Civil and Family Court with effect from 22 January 2018.
Cath was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn in 1989. She has extensive experience with higher value personal injury and clinical negligence claims and has particular expertise in regards to cases involving Court of Protection and capacity issues. She is routinely instructed in claims involving catastrophic brain injury (adult and paediatric), spinal cord injury, amputees, serious orthopaedic injury and fatal accidents.
Catherine Howells sits as a Recorder and has experience of deciding clinical negligence trials. She is also an accredited mediator.
