Celestine Greenwood and Liz Brennan take family law case to the Court of Appeal
December 9, 2020
New arrivals at Exchange Chambers, Celestine Greenwood and Liz Brennan, started their careers at their new home by taking a case to the Court of Appeal.
Celeste, led by Deirdre Fottrell QC, and Liz, led by Frank Feehan QC, took the fight for revocation of placement orders to the Court of Appeal.
Having indicated concern that the law is silent as to the procedure to be adopted when leave to pursue such an application has been granted, Baker LJ granted leave to appeal on all grounds.
After hearing a full day of argument, the Court of Appeal issued its Judgment on 27th November 2020. Unfortunately, the appeal was unsuccessful but the Judgment provides clarity about the procedure to be adopted in such applications which remain relatively rare.
Celeste and Liz joined Exchange Chambers in November 2020, as part of a 14-strong family law team from Chavasse Court. The team specialises in all aspects of public and private children law cases acting for parents, children, extended family members, guardians, local authorities and government bodies, at all levels of the family court from Magistrates to High Court and the Court of Appeal.
