Stephen Meadowcroft QC and David Temkin secure acquittals on all charges in conspiracy to murder trial
March 27, 2019
Stephen Meadowcroft QC and David Temkin from Exchange Chambers have secured acquittals for their client on all charges in a conspiracy to murder trial.
Stephen and David’s client was cleared by a jury of conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The trial focussed on two shootings in 2015 in Salford. The Prosecution case was that the escalation of violence between rival gangs culminated in planned executions of faction leaders. The case attracted the attention of the national press, particularly because the second incident resulted in the shooting of two innocent civilians, one of whom was a seven-year old child.
After an eight week trial at Manchester Crown Court, the jury convicted all defendants except for Stephen and David’s client.
Stephen and David were instructed by Craig Liversidge, partner at Forbes Solicitors. Aequitas telecommunications expert, Paul Hope, formed a crucial part of the defence team.
Stephen Meadowcroft QC and David Temkin are both members of the criminal department at Exchange Chambers.
Stephen is a highly regarded Leading Silk in Crime and has been recognised as such for several years in The Legal 500. David is also highly recognised as a Leading Junior in Crime within both The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
