Simon Lewis and Ashley Serr appointed Court Examiners
October 9, 2017
The Lord Chancellor has approved the appointment of Ashley Serr and Simon Lewis to serve as Court Examiners.
Court Examiners are responsible for examining witnesses before trial as to their oral or documentary evidence, by deposition or otherwise under the Civil Procedure Rules. Examinations may be required in circumstances such as where someone is too ill to attend trial or where a foreign court requests evidence from a person who resides in this jurisdiction rather than the jurisdiction of the foreign court.
The appointments have been made for a period of five years starting from 1 October 2017, following a competitive interview process managed by the Ministry of Justice and regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, and are subject to standard clearance checks.
Both Ashley and Simon will continue to practise full time at Exchange Chambers.
