Anna Bond successfully prosecutes man for prison attack on officer

Anna Bond from Exchange Chambers has successfully prosecuted a prisoner at HMP Forest Bank who poured near boiling water over a prison officer.

A jury at Manchester Crown Court last week returned a unanimous verdict of guilty on 1 count of s.18 GBH against Fidel Robinson. The defendant was a prisoner at HMP Forest Bank in November 2020 where he was serving a 15-year sentence for attempted murder. On 11 November 2020, he filled a bucket with near boiling water and added sugar to that water before pouring it over a prison officer who was sitting in the staff office. The officer suffered burns all over his body and spent 7 days in hospital.
