Anesta Weekes KC secures acquittal for medical consultant charged with 3 counts of sexual assault

Anesta Weekes KC from Exchange Chambers has secured an acquittal for a senior medical consultant charged with 3 counts of sexual assault.

The allegations, covering a 3-year period, were made by 2 midwives and a junior sister.

Collusion was an important point of law in this case with Anesta Weekes KC making the jury aware that at least two of the midwives spoke about their respective allegations before either of them made an official complaint.

Anesta Weekes KC also successfully argued that key witness evidence in the case was fabricated.

The defendant, who denied the allegations, was found not guilty on all three counts.
