Alex Menary appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal

Alex Menary from Exchange Chambers has been appointed to sit as a Fee-Paid Judge of the First Tier Tribunal sitting in the Mental Health Jurisdiction of the Health, Education and Social Care Chamber.
The Tribunal is responsible for handling applications for the discharge of patients detained in psychiatric hospitals. It also handles applications to change community treatment orders and the conditions placed on a ‘conditional discharge’ from hospital.

Alex is an experienced criminal practitioner regularly instructed in cases requiring utmost sensitivity and care. His particular specialisms include fraud and serious sexual offences. He is a Grade 3 CPS Prosecutor; a RASSO accredited CPS Prosecutor and a Serious Crime CPS Advocates Panel Level 3
Alex has also developed a specialist Police Law practice, accepting instructions to advise and represent Officers accused of misconduct across the North of England.
He is a key and experienced member of the police law, personal injury and criminal teams at Exchange Chambers.
