£1 million settlement for Andrew Ward

Andrew Ward from Exchange Chambers has secured a settlement at a JSM in May 2022 in excess of £1 million on behalf of a claimant, now aged 44 years, who sustained serious orthopaedic injuries in a road traffic accident in May 2017. The claimant was knocked off his motorcycle by another vehicle. Liability was admitted.

The key quantum issue concerned an assessment of the claimant’s likely uninjured career model scenario and the credit to be given for his future injured residual earnings capacity applying an Ogden 8 “disabled” reduction factor for contingencies other than mortality.

Andrew was instructed by Mark Belfield of Thorneycroft Solicitors. Andrew commented that: “It was a privilege to represent this genuine and deserving claimant and, by working as a team with Mark, to obtain full compensation for him.”
